I found out today in a phone call with Dell:

If you call Dell to locate the registered owner of a laptop, to verify if the used unit you bought has been stolen, they will not take the courtesy and notify the owner if the owner has not notified them that it was stolen.

So Dell could know where your stolen laptop is and someone wants to give it back but they won't call or email you because you didn't call them??? That's great service.

I've been talking to the India staff for 2 days now. Also the Dell Corporate Offices can only be contacted by snail mail. No email ... no phone.

Dell has always been on the bottom of my suggested product list and they will continue to stay there until they match HP support.

It's just a crap shoot these days, isn't it.
    Thanks for that heads up!
