Okay, this is the first time I've ever heard this terminology used and wondering if any of you out there know exactly what it is. I was instructed by someone I met to request a surrogate parent. The school is responsible for finding this person and they act as an advocate for your child. Has anyone on here heard any such term?? She said that is what she did to get results. The meeting can not move forward until they have one in place. Yes, I know all about the advocacy groups but have not been of much help in the past. I'm doing some research on this myself but figured I'd ask other parents if they've heard of this terminiology used in a meeting before. Thanks in advance.

If a child is in foster care or an adoption is not complete, a surrogate parent is needed in order to sign the paperwork.

Thanks pirategirl. This lady got one & this was her own biological child though. So is it typically just for "fill in" parent w/fostering? All my kids are officially & legally mine. Thanks for the input though. Asking today some of my contacts across the nation and some of the other advocacy groups. I'll definitely be interested to see. Has to be something b/c this lady lived in Johnston County & her daughter just graduated. I just found it odd that in my 10 years of dealing w/ IEP's & everything else under the sun, I'd never heard it mentioned not even once. Thanks again.
