Does anyone know what else is going to be in the new Exxon station on Cleveland Rd next to the Dollar Store? Also I noticed that one of the pumps is E85. The car I purchased in April supports E85. I never even knew that until about 2 weeks after I had the car and saw the emblem on the back of my car. Does anyone know how much E85 goes for compared to regular gas? Will I be saving more money by using it? Joe
I've noticed that these places that sell gas that say "may contain up to 10% Ethanol" often has the cheapest gas, but you also burn through it quicker.
Wouldn't you suppose that a lot of gas has varying low level amounts of Ethanol in it or are they required by law to state it if any is present in the fuel?
I am a dyed in the wool tree hugger and truly believe in using ethanol. But what I am finding with my 2001 mazda 626 it tends to turn on my check engine light. And that I am not noticing any cheaper prices at pumps promoting 10% ethanol to pumps that is pure petroleum.
In most of the smaller towns I frequent, the two major competitors for cheapest gas are usually Murphy Oil and Wilco Hess. They are usually a few pennies cheaper than everyone else, however most of the Murphy's that I have stopped at promote Ethanol. A truck stop I stopped at on I-95 the other day proudly stated they did NOT have Ethanol.
one of the workers there said something about a daycare kind of facility....not sure of the credibility of it but that what was said when they were asked.
From what I understand about E-85 it burns quicker/cleaner but is cheaper..but it appears that you spend more $$ in the end with E-85.. If they put it in..I will try it and see how it does.. Here is an old article I found on WRAL http://www.wral.com/traffic/story/2628541/ Although E85 sells for about $2.99 a gallon, compared with about $3.26 a gallon for gas, vehicles that burn the blended fuel get about 30 percent fewer miles per gallon than if they used regular unleaded. Industry experts said that eliminates any savings at the pump for drivers. For example, a Lincoln Navigator that gets 11 miles per gallon would spend $90.44 to drive a 242-mile trip using E85 at $2.99 per gallon. The same trip on gas costing $3.29 a gallon would cost $72. 38 for filling the tank.
