WASHINGTON – The remains of the first American lost in the Gulf War have been found in Iraq, the military said Sunday, a sorrowful resolution of a nearly two-decade old question about the fate of Navy Capt. Michael "Scott" Speicher. Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090802/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_gulf_war_missing_pilot_14 Welcome home, Navy!
Sheltie, I should have worded it differently. As soon as I read the news, I got choked up, realizing that this family may finally have some closure. Yes, I am ALL Army....and also render honors to my Navy, Air Force, Marine, and Coast Guard brothers and sisters. My point was that we finally have an answer to his status. And it's not as horrible as it could have played out.
I saw a show last night that speculated he could have been captured alive. They even showed a prison that had MSS written on the wall.
Welcome home. Also, I'd like to pay my respects to the two Seymour Johnson airmen who were lost a couple of weeks ago in their F-15E. Two young men who died in service to our nation's people.
