Hi I'm brand new to the 40/42 area and am very interested in starting a studio that will offer piano lessons and vocal coaching. I have a vocal performance degree from Appalachian State and 10 years teaching experience, but when I relocated to the Triangle area last year, I settled for a 8-5 job in Raleigh that I'm truly not happy with. I would love to start teaching again, but do not know how much of a demand there is in this area. I would love to have 30 students and would be willing to teach anytime during the day. I really feel like this is my calling and would like to get some feedback from the neighborhood.

My husband and I always joke about sending our son to a vocal camp/coach, because we think he's good...but he says boys don't sing! (he's 9) He's actually starting chorus this week, and we can't wait to see how he does and likes it. My husband is funny, said he'd have never thought he'd be excited about his son joining chorus. But if you've got something, run with it!! (he takes after his mother!)

I honestly don't know if 40/42 is an area for that kind of work though. Maybe the piano more so, but there is a place up 42 that does that isn't there? Or is that just for young kids? Kindermusik?

  3. I've always wanted to take vocal lessons. My brother wants to take lessons before his wedding so he can sing for his new bride at the reception. I think that's sweet.

What would the approximate rate be for each? I would actually be interested in both but I have no idea how much they costs.

Hi I actually posted this for my wife. She will be on later and can answer questions as far as rates, ages, etc. She is a wonderful teacher as I have been able to observe her teaching for several years. Its been enjoyable to me to see kids who first knew nothing about music advance and grow to be capable musicians.

Would new students, such as I, be required to bring their own buckets, or will they be supplied?..... :)
