Student Caught With Gun On Campus A ninth grade student at South Johnston High School was arrested on campus with a gun Friday. Eighteen year-old Quintaram Duff of Meade Drive, Four Oaks was reportedly caught with an unloaded 9mm handgun in his book bag. Duff reportedly showed the gun to another student while at school Friday. That student alerted the principal. Duff was escorted to the office by school resource officers and during a search of his book bag the weapon was found. Superintendent Dr. Ed Croom told WTSB, “Johnston County Schools takes the safety of our students very seriously. Law enforcement is conducting a full investigation. The Student Code of Conduct will be applied once the investigation is complete. I would like to thank the individuals who came forward to alert authorities of the situation. Most importantly, all students are safe and an orderly school environment remains at South Johnston High School.” Duff was charged with possession of a weapon on educational property and carrying a concealed gun, according to Tammy Amaon, spokesperson for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail in lieu of a $17,500 bond.
POSTER CHILD FOR AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM. And people wonder why we are becoming a third world nation. Republicans and Democrats are both to blame. China has won the war with out ever firing one single shot.
I haven't seen any driug dealers or prostitutes since I left that subdivision. My house is still there though and that concerns me.
Its being rented now. Hopefully I can sell it soon. This was a new subdivision and I was the first one to buy years ago. I won't make that mistake again.
I'm not trying to make light of a serious situation, but what's up with the eyebrows? Does it have some 'secret' meaning, or is just a style thing?
Probably some secret meaning. I've noticed in the past few weeks a lot of spray painting on signs and building in the neighborhood. Looks like gang stuff.
18 & in 9th grade should have NEVER have happened. Someone screwed up. Seriously. You are allowed under NC law to fail a childn once in elementary, once in middle, & once in high school. I have come to know these rules fairly well since I've had to hold my children back as they never spoke english before coming to America & therefore took time to catch up. You can be 21 yo and still graduate hs. This kid would be at least 22 so someone along the lines had to have messed up in his process. Sad, b/c it means parents must not be paying too much attention. On another note, my daughter has sad WJHS is having massive theft problems. They apparently are telling students this frequently. Now, more cameras have been installed. Just don't understand it all really. I don't know if it is all the thieving that's getting to me or all the pregnant teens at WJHS. My daughter has another pregnant one in her class. Umm 14yo & 7 months pregnant! What in the world?! Call me old fashioned but I just don't get all this. BTW, ddidn't mean to pull any thread hijacking. Just glad I don't go to hs now--LOL. I'd never make it. Definitely a lot differnet. Have a great weekend everyone. Still can't imagine 18 & in 9th grade. I was in college at 18. Stephanie--mom to 7
Well, this kid didn't fall too far from the tree. His family is ALWAYS in the courts and JAIL! One of his relatives was on the County's Most Wanted........ for selling cocaine.......... What do u expect??
South Johnston is not a "normal" high school it now is the one for bad and troubled students..hence this looser. Ya think? This looser needs more then an education... THere thefts and all that stuff is nothing new. The dress code at West is a joke. Brookie and company don't deal with folks from other racial backgrounds well. Seriously! I think they are too scared to enforce the dress and honor codes. No Balls Brookie, only enforces the dress code to little white kids and not to those who wear baggy pants with the crotches down to their knees..Oh and if it is enforced..that is during the first few weeks of school. I have seens enough boxers to choke a horse but heaven forbid you wear different colored shoe laces - You gang member you!!!! Go there, look at the kids in the Morning. Look for the Boxers and baggy sweatshirts. They are there in force and no one says a thing. So are the low cut shirts on the endowed girls. but that is another rant..... Bring back the uniforms so boys can learn to dress like men and the girls can learn how to be ladies and not look like hookers.
I'd have to disagree about South Johnston being a school for bad or troubled kids. That's EVERY SCHOOL! My nephew just graduated there in 09 with all honors. My niece is there with honors, she's also on track and the cheerleading squad. I have plenty of relatives that go there and don't have ANY problems! So it's not what you think. Yes, there are bad kids. But these bad kids are in every school. You go to the school in the district you live in. They don't just put the "bad and troubled" kids in one school!
I completely agree with you. Both of my girls graduated from South, one with high honors. Never had any problems there. I don't think South has any more problems than any other school in the county.
Turtlepits, I have to agree also, my Oldest son attends 10th grade at SJHS, and he has no idea who this kid is. It is such a large high school, half the time he doesn't see the classmates he has grown up with. Do they have problems? Yes, but all schools have problems. My son plays football, wrestling, track and weightlifting during the year, and while not all the parents and coaches agree on everything, one thing we do agree on is getting them into sports makes a world of difference. The Honors program is amazing as well. As for being in High School in 2009, I would never go back to high school, the drama and the junk that kids have to put up with. A few years ago I met a 12 year old that was pregnant and her mom quit her job to go on welfare to stay home with the 'grandbaby', 12 REALLY??? What in the world is going on in today's society?
