My daughter just came home from school with the following wonderful information and volunteered our family to help: What's it all about? "Attend Prom Project" of Johnston County provides special occasion dresses and accessories FREE OF CHARGE to current high school seniors who are in financial need and would otherwise be prevented from attending their school Prom. A "boutique" will be set up (on a Saturday 1 month before prom season) so that eligible girls can select a prom gown and possible accessories to attend their prom. This project is also for whose who want to donate their gown and/or accessories to aid in providing a variety of items in which to choose. One can also sponsor a senior. Who is this for? ANYONE!... The one who NEEDs the gown, the one's who want to DONATE theirs, and those who want to SPONSOR. Items needed: Formal gowns, bridesmaid's dresses (new, or like-new condition, with size and location worn attached to garmet). Monetary donations to help with costs and gift certificates. Gift certificates: (nail and/or hair salons, shoe stores, restaurants, florists, dry cleaners, seamstress or tailor, retail stores, jewelers). Purses, handbags or clutches. Unopened hosiery, unopened make-up, hair accessories (spray, pins, decorations, and perfumes, etc.) When is it? March 6 - Saturday 9 am - 3 pm and March 7 - Sunday 2 pm - 5 pm Where is it? Cinderella's Wardrobe Boutique will be revealed to volunteer and the participants will be notified of the location at a later date to protect the privacy of the individuals in need. www.cinderellaswardrobe.org Items can be dropped off at the Clayton High School front office or at my house. Excellent idea! ...I gave my wedding dress to a girl on Freecycle. She was searching, trying to help out a friend and surprise her. I don't have any girls to hand down my dress to, so all it was doing was taking up closet space. Crinoline and all...even had shoes to match. I'm happy knowing I helped to make someone's wedding day a special event.
