LOL....the ceremony was just yesterday. And surprised that I didn't see anything about on the nightly news last night covering the ceremony.
I saw it sometime yesterday - mighta been wral 6:00pm news? or the world news that came on afterward?
From "Wings and Wasps" newsletter, dated August 8, 2009 President Barack Obama signed a bill July 1 at the White House to award the Gold Medal to the 1,114 women, including 11 who died in training before receiving their wings and 38 who were killed during duty. About 305 of the women are alive. All are 85 or older. "Every American should be grateful for their service, and I am honored to sign this bill to finally give them some of the hard-earned recognition they deserve," Obama said at the signing, according to the U.S. Air Force Web site. I think I read that they were going to make this award 2-3 days ago. It's obviously been in the works for a while, even though the actual ceremony was yesterday.
