Quick question. Need a pediatric orthopedist. Not associated w/ Raleigh Orthopedics or one of their satellite offices. I have nothing against Raleigh Ortho. (despite a botched surgery job on my daughter). It's just we've run into a situation where now the doc is being ultra conservative on his decisions & son needs surgery asap due to constant pain. He is going to need an amputation on one leg and probably taking out some bone on the leg that is left as well. He already is missing one leg & bone is growing out which is unusual for congenital amputees. So, as you can see just by a brief description, I need someone who knows what the heck they are doing. This is not an easy case. Not cut & dry. He has received top notch care from Raleigh Ortho in years past & has had many surgeries w/ them. As a mother though, I know there is something wrong and he really needs out of this pain. Any recommendations would be wonderful. Anyone been to Duke? I need a specialist that has more experience than just broken bones as well. Really, we'll need an "ortho team." Hope that all made sense. Thanks in advance. Stephanie--mom to 7
Stephanie, We haven't experienced injuries as severe as yours seem to be but I currently have a 4 year old in a leg brace and have an 11 year old that has been through several casts due to basic broken arms. The doctors at Bone & Joint Surgery Clinic have been amazing to us over the years and I highly recommend them. They handle all orthopaedic issues and are also medically support Wolfpack athletics. They are located off Wake Forest Rd behind Duke Raleigh Hospital. Good luck!
Thanks for the recommendation. I will give them a call. Calling a few places but really want recommendations for sure. This is highly complex & more to it than what I wrote. Just tried to call & they're closed for the day. Will call first thing tomorrow though. Reviewed their website & this is exactly the type of thing we are looking for & need. Fantastic!
