My Toyota Celica 2004 has returned a P0420 error code. Can anyone recommend a place that can actually CHECK the following and not just suggest any ol' fix...??? - Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes and catalytic converter - Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation - Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor I need all this checked before I throw $1,200+ in a new catalytic converter... Thanks for any recommendations! Also, if you are looking for side work and carry your own insurance -- lets talk. Eventually, I will need something replaced within the next few days...
go to Lewis Brothers on Main st in Clayton.. He will check everything and let you know what is going on before repairing and charging.
More than decent mechanics Johnson and Johnson Import Specialists on Mechanical Blvd. in Garner. These guys are VERY honest and they do great work. Highly recommended for any make/model, esp. imports (obviously).
REH Automotive on Old Fairground Road Great guy and honest. Specializes in exhaust. I have a Honda and he replaced my converter and it was not that expensive!
I know a great mechanic that knows his stuff and is reasonably priced but he's getting frustrated with people here making appointments with him, rearranging his weekend schedule to accomodate them, giving them free advice and they never show.
Have you tried TAG on Cleveland School Rd? Bobby is great and truly knows his stuff and he does business the old fashioned way, taking care of customers.
Jeff Carwell @ Carwell Automotive 2010 Crooked Creek Road, Clayton, NC 27520 553-7612 We take all our cars there, and he does whatever he can to help you out. (ie... he will get his parts from local auto part stores and car dealers, but if you bring him the part because you found it cheaper somewhere else, he is happy to install your part, just no guarantee offered on it by Carwell, obviously)
