Nosestud as an religious symbol

Then be prepared to be upset, because I know when I worked at WJHS students were not allowed to wear religious crosses in their nose.

 

How about around their neck?

 

No policy on necklaces, just nosestuds. No one could wear a nosestud, no matter what it was or who it was.

So.........Hught and Hat and the other one whose name escapes me................have you even looked at their main website? The FB page is quite an entertaining read as well. There is not a single thing on there that states she HAS to have her nose piereced. Hell, if she wears pierced earrings..............she's golden! You can say it's religious persecution til the cows come home, but it simply is not. Besides, if her nose is pierced, the hole is there whether she wears a nose stud or NOT. Body modification complete.

BTW, the pics of folks hanging by hooks from their back as a background is surely a nice touch on the website. Can't wait til she wants to do that on her lunch break.

That you refer to it as entertaining, can be interpreted as dismissive. I'm given the recall the old saw from a college professor, "What one doesn't understand, one mocks." Your last part about the pics is judgmental.

Religious practices may not be understood by others. This lack of awareness and understanding doesn't render the practices invalid. Whether it's a Hindu not eating beef, A Mormon wearing special Temple undergarments, a Catholic wearing ashes on his forehead, or a Penetecostal speaking in tongues, these practices are valid to those who practice it.

Whether or not their web site says this or that is immaterial. I certainly don't expect to find everything knowable about something on their website.

Easy to make fun of what we do not understand. Special rituals fall under this. While you or I may not understand them, for those adherents who practice these, they understand. That's all that is necessary.

As indicated repeatedly through out this thread, this is not for me. If you get off on Pierce Porn good for you. I am also not in a position to make judgements on other peoples religions.

I will tolerate theirs the same as I do Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Druidism and Wicca. They all puzzle me, but to each their own.

 

I just would like to thank this girl and her mom for forcing this ridiculous issue to the point that it will probably result in a substantial amount of money in legal fees. Who is ultimately going to suffer - our children!

 

I think think the Clayton school administration is at much at fault if not more. Why did you spare them?

 

but according to one of the prior links the school was allowed to make exceptions for religious reason, but they choose not to.

 

It would have to be an actual religion to make an exception.

Neither do I and I don't see anything that requires a Christian to wear a cross in the Christian religion. Yet many do and are not banned from doing so.

 

No wonder you are agnostic. If this qualifies as a religion to you then anything can be possible.

Not sure what the point is, some parts of your body is OK and others aren't, sounds like Bias.
