The monitor on my daughter's PC (not laptop) suddenly stopped working a while back. I can set her school up on another computer, however, I need the info on her hard drive. I googled the issue & got some ideas but I seem to have better luck posting here & getting more specific advice. It is not the monitor that is bad because it works with other PCs. Is this a video card? If so, how can I replace it & is that expensive?

    I appreciate any ideas!!

If you need the data quickly you'll need to remove the hard drive (4 screws and 2 plugs) and place it in a USB hard drive enclosure. $15 for a SATA at Comp USA on capital Blvd. Not a difficult task for a novice.

Plug the usb into any other computer and use windows explorer to drag and drop the data off that drive to the new PC. If you're trying to use programs from her hard drive, forget it, it doesn't work.
