My daughter's laptop is constantly giving this message when she powers on "Please do not power off, updates in progress. Update 1 of 3 in progress." It takes about 20-30 mins to complete and this happens 1-3 times a week. Very frustrating. Have tried to reboot but it just does it again so we have to wait it out. My laptop does not do this. She has Windows7. Is this normal?? I'd hate to be using it as a work laptop & have to lose 1-2 hours per week "waiting". As it is, it slows her schoolwork down. Any thoughts?

I'd honestly have it looked at as I haven't seen that occur on any of the laptops we have here at work, nor any of the desktops runnning Win7

Had that happen to me recently (during power off, not power up). You need to do a manual update under the Start button.

That message is normal but not 2-3 times a week. You should initiate a manual update and try to grab all updates at once. If you click on Start and type in "windows update" it will show up as the first item in the list.
