My dad used to and it worried me to death when he got older. He was checked into the hospital once and when I was checking him out and getting his personal items, he had had $1700 in his pocket.
Apparently these crooks are busy. They robbed someone in Fayetteville using the same MO. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/46869416/ns/local_news-raleigh_nc/
Oh nice!.. Cause I work in Fayeteville and it's a LONG RIDE HOME on 210 thru Fort Bragg and Spring Lake.
If you get a cop behind you trying to pull you over, turn on your hazzard lights, slow down and wait to stop until you are in a well lighted public place. You can also call 911 to verify that the person trying to pull you over is indeed a real cop (and let them know why you're not pulling over yet).
When I first started driving as a teen, I was taught never to pull over for an unmarked car until I was at a gas station or somewhere very public. Just to put my hazard lights on and drive slowly until I get somewhere public.
I know a SHP that got pulled over by one of these crooks about 10 years ago. As you can imagine, it didn't turn out well for the faker.
