OK I know this may sound strange but my 15 yr old daughter is thinking about a career in Law enforcement and would like to learn about safe handling and shooting a gun. I grew up in a hunting family so I lived around guns but really dont know enough to teach her safely. Someplace that would teach her the basics and has target practice or skeet would be great. Thanks.
There is a Johnston County 4-H Target Sports Club. I think it meets a couple Saturdays a month. You could call the agriculture building on hwy 210 in Smithfield or look the club up on facebook.
There is also Trigger Happy on Main St. in Clayton. Haven't been in there myself yet, but is worth checking out.
I just too a Pistol safety class yesterday thru Learn to Shoot NC. They have a website and are on facebook!
Paul Smith runs a training company in Zebulon..Took my concealed carry class through him..Great training methods and he does basic handgun classes as well. Frontline Defense
Johnston Community College has a class for conceal carry, but you may be more interested in finding someone that offers a Hunters Safety Class. At one time Mt. Zion United Methodist Church was giving the class for hunters safety. http://www.johnstoncc.edu/concealedcarry.aspx
