So I bought this yesterday and was told it was a flour sifter. I can't find one like it after much searching. Have you seen one before? Is it really a flour sifter?

Nope... I think this is a Green Corn (on the COB in the Husks) "crimper" to half shuck corn into animal feed.
If the center bar was tighter it would be a Corn Sheller to knock the corn off the DRY cobs.

all this per my 80+ y/o farmer daddy.

That makes a whole lot more sense! I could not figure out what the little lumps of metal were for.

Thank you and thank your daddy for me!!

It's odd though, it's so small, I can't see it being very productive on any kind of scale. Hmmmm

Antique flour sifters are usually wrinkly and have flour in their hair!

I guess it's the fine mesh across the bottom that's throwing me off, and it's so small, I don't see it being able to get much done at a time, I guess one cobb at a time? I'm going to buy some corn in the husk today and see if it works. ; )

We bought an antique cast iron cherry pitter a few weeks ago DH is dying to try out too.
