I know they are getting ready to redo I-40 from I-440 on the east side to where it picks up with I-440 on the west side. But my question is When are they ever going to get around to widening I-440 from Lake Boone down to I-40? I know they also have to put all new overpasses and such. That section of road is still left over from the old US road system. That section of road is the old US 1.

Thanks for the Intell. But I think during their re evaluation they should consider the rebuild before building new projects. They've gone and redone I-440 on the east side from the New 64 bypass down to I-440 on the east and in January they are starting the rebuild of I-40 from I-440 on the east to I-440 on the west.
And both of those sections are newer than the section of I-440 (US1) from Wade to I-40. All they have done to that section since I moved up here in 96 was resurface the existing roadbed. They have even gone and widened and redone the US 1 section of highway south of I-440 south through Cary.

I am just kind of a road geek.
