    Just as the title states...

It is very easy to find individuals or big boxes that will do 35mm to DVD conversion.

How about Mylar .5 mil 2 3/8 reels?

I have the player to do it myself but after an hour of removing battery corrosion I gave up.

Anybody local (or national) that you have trusted with irreplaceable media like this?

There is no magic, but vinegar or lemon juice soaked in an old tooth brush works as good as anything. If it's real bad and you can get to the affected area, try soaking a cotton ball and pressing it in there for a while.

Another option is to just replace the battery compartment. You can get pretty much any configuration at Radio Shack (4 AA, 2D, etc). It is usually just a matter of soldering a couple of wires.
