I was looking back at old posts, back to 2006 and noticed how there would be 20 posts a day. now you can check in for new activity when you've been out 5 days and there is nothing. used to be some interesting non political posts/polls.
I suspect there's been a move to Social Media as well. Online forums in general seem to be quieter and more lackluster with the rise of phone apps geared toward Facebook, etc.
Most people are on Next Door. I see a lot of neighbors being "not so neighborly" on there. It's a shame people can't disagree about things & be cordial about it....
I like next door also. Just wish the format was more like a forum. Not nearly as much snarkiness on it. Probably because their real names and neighborhood they live in are there for everyone to see! Nothing to hide behind.
I'm on Nextdoor too, its good. Just wish all would use it as intended and stop soliciting their businesses. Recommendations are one thing, but people advertising their business every week is annoying.
Take my book on this, report them all. My neighborhood has learned, they get 1 chance. After that I report everything commercial. Theres a dedicated section for businesses, doesnt cost them anything. They can advertise all they want via it. Most just dont know about it
I went on next door for a while, don't like it, the format. people complaining about different things that don't really matter.
