I knew the ABC store was suppose to move to the corner by the current Walmart exit. Hopefully there will be some good retail and not just a huge housing development there.
Next to Bojangles on 50 near Timber. Gas station. There is also another gas station at Timber and 50 in planning Quality+Oil+Tier+2+Concept+Plan+Set_TOG#25-019_07142025_Flattened.pdf
I went by Saturday, very busy. went in but a lot of people waiting to order and waiting to pick up sandwiches. I didn't get anything. Surprised they didn't have a small eating area like Sheetz.
I noticed the other day that they've started clearing the lot across from Aldi on 42 (36) where the other WaWa is supposed to be going.
This came before the planning board on Monday https://townofclaytonnc.civicweb.ne...i.pdf?handle=38C4DDF633C24537B260740C6DF83BDC
My wife's prayers have been answered! We moved here from TX 22 years ago and she's been hoping for one ever since. And this one is a mile away. I might need to have her picture posted at their register with a "do not serve this women" request.
We went to one in TX last year, I was very unimpressed. But maybe we just had a bad experience. Now if it was an In-an-Out, I would be there all the time!
The Jersey Mike's next to the new Publix (at NC 42/50) is opening August 20th, according to their business entry on Google Maps. I peeked in and they appear ready to go. Even the chips/snack rack is fully stocked. I wonder if the Jersey Mike's on the other side of the I-40 bridge (Bratton Dr) is planning on co-existing. I'm hearing early September for Publix, from someone that interviewed for them. The actual date is still not posted to their website. I've been to Whataburger. It's a good greasy burger, but I agree it's not earth shattering. I think, like Wawa, it's just nostalgia for those that moved here from a place that had them.
