If you are an "Independent" rescue person, how they hell do you know that Ernie is on the phone with rescue groups???
He goes BEYOND most shelter directors?? Now that is funny!
The numbers that DunDreamin said is right there in front of everyone's face!
Where are these dogs?? Why are they not on 4042?? If they are, there is maybe 7????

Pathetic! Who is getting threats?? Thats BS! And HOW WOULD you know if you are an "independent" rescue person!

People are trying to stop spay and neuter?? That is the biggest load of crap!

You know, you are obviously clueless and are just writing **** to make controversy.

Ernie has the job. You don't have to write bullshit to gain him any brownie points!

They are lying about the numbers. The numbers reported to the state deparetment of health do not match.

Messed with?? By who??? You are a ******* liar!

OR... is Ernie telling you all these slandereous lies himself??
You must know him very well to have all this "inside" information!

  4. Now why would they only inject 7 and gas the rest? face it, your facts are wrong.

Rescues can not adopt straight from the shelter unless they have credentials on file. Most rescues send approved adopters straight to the shelter. They would rather an adopter take the dog from the shelter once its passed an assessment. Foster homes are in very short supply. He contacted me yesterday looking for a rescue for a dog in urgent need, he hadnt heard back from everyone he had called. Thankfully most rescues will return my call. They just do not want to take a chance that they will be next on "post the evil rescue of the day" on craigslist and other sites. What has been done by a few are hurting ALOT of animals.

Temperament tests are not "trying to hurt or kill a dog". a dog with a sound temperament will be sound in a shelter or in a home. If it snaps, it is not a sound animal. Is it worth taking a chance that a child's face or hand gets ripped apart? Also rescues can not take on that legal responsibility. If they aodpt out a dog that has agression or fear bting issues, they are taking a huge risk.

Also temperament testing helps us see if the dog will be good with children, cats, and even other dogs. It helps us place the dog in the right home so there is a lesser chance of being returned.

If a dog has parvo, and its usually puppies, no matter what cleaner they use, the parvo stays with the infected dog and it will infect others. Its a horrible death. Its easier for ashelter to kill the virus once the dog is gone, but its terribly hard to kill the virus in the home. Most people cant bleach their carpets, and even those who do are taking a risk that the virus wont be completely killed.

Are you saying that the COUNTY is LYING on official documents?
Is that what you are saying???

Because it says that they injected only 7!!! If you say they are injecting more, where are the meds coming from and where are they going?
Where are they injecting them?? Why are they not documenting it?
What type of injection are they using?? What type of meds?
    Wow....................

You just opened up a whole can of worms lady!

  8. I network with most shelters and rescues in the state to get animals assessed so they can bring it into their rescue or find a suitable adopter to pick it up.

How hard is that to figure out..need me to connect the dots?

I am friends with quite a few shelter workers and rescue coordinators..wheres the eeevil connection in that?

and yes today actually, due to the postings on CL and other online forums, a rescue contacted me to say that they had recieved some really nasty emails completely void the truth. They were freaked out and rightfully so.

  9. MOST shelters are now requiring that rescues put their credentials on file.

This is because people are pulling animals thinking they can rehome them..but they have been winding up in the hands of collectors who call themselves "rescues". The conditons that they subject their animals to are deplorable.

This assures shelters that when an animal is pulled by a rescue is is going to get vet care and cared for humanely.

And Ernie told you this also??? That their are some "Collectors" out there that are trying to pull from the shelter?? Wow, Sandy..... Keep this stuff coming.... With all this liable crap going on, you are really making this easy for someone to sue and win lots of money! Some people might be able to buy enough land and start a NoKill Shelter in Johnston County.
I like your word "deplorable"..... Thank You!!!

my take on adoption and euthanasia

I read the article in the N&O, but didn't see the broadcast on NBC.

I do believe that Ernie is making some headway. Not for nothing, but anything is better that Roger.

It does take time for things to revolve.

But Harley, you are a very mean spiritied person.
You might not realise it, but you do condone the gas chamber in various forums and say hateful things.

You seem to do this animal thing for what little glory it gives you.

Instead of writing on these boards and patting yourself on the back, why don't you update the animals so they have a chance of getting out.
If the are out, then euthanasia procedures would be a null poing. Correct?
You are a business owner, and maybe you just don't have the time to do it.
If that is the case, then when the new Director is hired, you should tell this person to have an Animal Control Officer do it.
This should be done at least bi-weekly.

It should be done by a paid staff member, and it should be done in a timely fashion.

When they announce the new shelter director sometime next week, I will call them up and voice my concerns.

There is so much controversy on the process of killings, but not much on the adoption.
