I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a local baseball program that uses regular rules. Just found out that the local ruritan and it sounds as though a majority of baseball programs in the area plays under some jurisdiction that does not allow leading off or big barrel bats etc. It may sound kind of silly to some, but having a 12 year old who excelled in baseball in Georgia, it would be a huge step backward to tell him that he can't lead off and that he needs to bat with a peewee bat. Any thoughts on other local area leagues?

Hi! There is Little League here in Clayton. I believe it's not too late for 12 years old to sign up. You might want to check their website for more information:

    www.claytonlittleleague.org

Our son is in the team and he love it.

Around here, to play lead off and with big barrell bats you have to play "travel ball". You need to try to find a team that goes to AAU or USSSA (or some other organiztion like these) tournaments. The regular recreation leagues do not use the big barrel bats. My son plays on a 9U travel team and we love it. I do not know too much about what is around here besides the NC Cleveland Indians for 12 year olds. Try seeing if they have a website where you could contact the coach. You might check the NC AAU website too. Hope this helps.
