http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009...n4918377.shtml?tag=main_home_storiesBySection I read this last night and am just amazed. OK, he needs his tail whooped for doing it, but a 13 year old drove 1300 miles towing a horse trailer with 2 horses in it!! I'm not sure I could do that! I'm just struck by how independant he must have been, but yes, he needs his tail whooped for sure.
I was driving pickups through single axle dual wheeled dump trucks at that age as I suspect may have others here. Granted, I never drove more than 50 miles or so at a time, but I had driven from 2 wheels to 16 wheels before I was 15.
Well, heck Wayne. I did too, as I've posted before, my Grandmother had a big farm and I've spent some time behind the wheel of trucks, tractors, etc. before it was legal. I just couldn't imagine a 13 year old driving on interstates, etc that far towing a horse trailer. That's not easy at all.
I want to know how big this kid was? I take it he didn't sit on a phone book through out the trip, but how can someone go this far and not come across a police officer or state patrolman (not even including Gas Station attendants and rest area patrons).
Yep, I drove on and off the farm at that age. No interstate for a couple of years though as there were none within 50 miles of us. I did drive a semi and 40 foot flat at 15 on the new interstate section near one of my grandparents farm.
