Petfinder and 4042 pets have been updated, did you see one you wanted to take home? If so call the shelter at 934-8474!

Updated? Aren't these the same animals from before? They were already copied on another website, and it looks like the same ones. Where are the hundreds of new animals that came in the last couple of weeks?

OK, I rarely go to the shelter so I don't know the answer, but is there really "hundreds of new animals" that came in in 2 weeks?

    Actually Tangy, there are.

The shelter averages anywhere from 300-600 animals a month coming through the doors, depending on the time of year. Not all of those animals can be put up for adoption though. Some are held because they have an old rabies tag and the workers try to locate the owners, some are feral or aggresive and aren't suitable for adoption, some are sick or injured, some are evidence in court cases, etc...

That would not be ninety percent of them, would it?

I have a suggestion for you Light. If you don't like the VOLUNTEER work that harleygirl is doing for the shelter, then how about you go down there with your camera and take some pictures of some of the rest of the animals and post them on a website somewhere. Sheesh.

    I didn't realize that.
Makes sense that they cannot be put up for adoption the minute they come in, though.

    Here's what I don't understand "light".

Every chance you get, you down any efforts made by anyone other than someone who shares your opinion on everything. Having been the person that took photos down there for a year, I know that you can only take pics of the animals available, and I also know that the next week, not all of those animals may have been adopted. Maybe one of those terriers pulled at the heart strings of the shelter employees, and they decided to give him a few more days and didn't move another animal up? Ever think about that?

You asked if you could take pics, they told you that "volunteer" position was filled, but that you were more than welcome to use the photos to post in other places, more than welcome to hand out fliers and advertise, etc.. (or at least, this is the "grapevine" information I heard, feel free to correct me if I heard incorrectly)

If everyone is working for one common goal, and I believe they are, what the hell difference does it make the road they take to get there?

I think if you used half the energy you use to put down other people's efforts, on your own agenda, you'd get a whole lot more accomplished.

And just for the record, I'm not bashing/slandering/namecalling etc.. anyone, just stating my opinion, the same way you do.

Thank you for your concern, but the shelter has not had that much traffic with incoming dogs and cats lately. THAT'S A GOOD THING!!!! I take the pictures of the ones they tell me to! As far as "hundreds" of animals, the shelter can't hold that many at one time, you have been there. You are right, they are on as many websites as I can get them on for FREE! They have been updated today again.
