Really. What to do with 30 lbs of pears???

Here's some ideas I have so far. Baby food, freezer jam, cobbler, pear butter, fried pears... Any other ideas? Any tried and true techniques (like how to make the peeling/coring go easier, hint-hint!). I want everything to freeze, I don't have a canning kit.

    TIA!

We have a pear tree. I use a small cannolli shell tube to core them. Only one way to peel them, without one of those crank peelers, by hand. Freezing them makes them grainy and textured if you dont cook them first.

My absolute favorite ... wine poached pears.

1 bottle dry red wine (A cheap Merlot works good)
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 to 1 cup water
1 vanilla bean, sliced (or 1/4 tsp liquid)
    2 star anise
    2 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks (or 1/2 tsp powder)
    6 ripe pears

Peel the pears, leave the stem. Slice a flat bottom to the pear. This is so they stand in the pot. Place them in lemon water to prevent browning.

Combine all of the ingredients except the water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a poaching temperature and add the pears standing them up in the pot. Add water slowly till just before they float. If they start to float and won't stand remove some liquid. Cover the pot and poach until the pears are fork tender. This will vary with their degree of ripeness but usually 10-30 minutes.

Allow them to cool, covered and in the poaching liquid.

Take some of the liquid and reduce it further to form a syrupy sauce. Pear schnapps works good to thicken it. Pour it over the pears with some vanilla ice cream on the side.

Yes it certainly would. Call me and I'll come take a few pounds off your hands. MM#2 would love something other than over-priced Granny Smith Apples for a change, lol
