Over the the past years (almost 14!) we have used various systems to handle the 4042.com forums. The first, "way back in the day" was WWW Board. That was followed by phpBB, which was replaced in 2007 by vBulletin, the system you are currently using. We are in the process of planning out the migration to a *NEW* forums system which will provide the platform we need to move forward in adding new features that have been requested....such as the ability to "like" posts, etc. The new system should also provide a better user experience for those who check out the 4042.com forums on mobile devices. Our hopes is to make the switch in the next few weeks...we are in the process of setting up a test migration and following that, will set a firm date for the actual switch. During that time, the forums will likely be offline for a period (hopefully very short) while we move over the existing data and user accounts. We will provide additional information as we work through the transfer. Thanks for your patience during the upgrade process! 8)
Will the new system finally support apps like Tapatalk? This is currently the only forum I visit which I can't use their app to view out of dozens of other forums. Tapatalk is one of the best app's for mobile users.
Webbie, Thanks so much for this wonderful Forum. You have put a lot of work into it and it is deeply appreciated. Sherry

Following up with another update on the forums. We have been working all weekend on "housekeeping" to get ready for the move over to the new system. That has involved clearing out approximately 30,000 SPAM registrations (something we are hoping the new forum software will help to prevent!). Part of the cleanup also helped to solve the numbering and loading problem we were encountering with our biggest thread (A Place for Random Thoughts). You should find that this thread now loads quickly and it properly displays the page numbering. Hope to do a test migration this week, and shooting for "going live" in the next two weeks. More details to follow as we move forward.....8)
Yes...it will have a responsive design (resizes to the appropriate screen) and will also be accessible by forum software, such as Tapatalk. We will be porting over the current vBulletin site into a "plain Jane" install on the other side, confirm everything is working OK, and then begin adding in new features.
Not yet...still in progress! We have found we have to move more "pieces" than just the forums when we upgrade, so there is more background prep to be done. 8)
