Hello, There is a sign on the 42 near Flowers stating that 42W will be closed by the railroad tracks starting today at 7 a.m. I found this link courtesy of the 4042 website(click on traffic) with more info. http://apps.dot.state.nc.us/TIMS/IncidentDetail.aspx?id=123799 I hope that it will only be for today. Jen
even if it is this time just for today they will close it again they are doing some repairs to all the intersections. and dont know how long it will take. for they are camped out behind my house in the tracks
My DH works for CSX, they are bringing alot of floating gangs into the area next week for repairs. They are to be here for a few weeks. I am pretty sure the tracks in Clayton belong to NS.
I was thinking that the tracks belonged to the NCRR. From my understanding, the state is moving ahead in developing the rail line from Charlotte to Morehead City for higher-speed trains. They will eventually open up passenger service east of Selma. I'm not sure what ever became of it, but there was a story a year or so ago about the NCRR purchasing land between Garner and Clayton to add multiple tracks for what I assumed was for freight trains to pull over for Amtrak service.
