42 closed

Just came through 42 area, via Cornwallis. Highway Patrol had 42 closed toward Walmart. Saw some fire trucks, just no sure what was going on.

 

We heard the sirens!! Alot of them.

 

Any fire is a potentially major fire on a day like today, so they are probably just taking extra precaution.

 

A fire somewhere just past the cows.

 

Any idea what type of fire - structure, brush, other?

 

I went by there earlier today and just as I turned the corner onto 42 there was heavy smoke and the firetruck showed up. There were 3 cars ahead of me and they stopped the traffic. I saw someone running out of the house with their dog. I really couldn't see too much because of all of the smoke. I did see the Firefighters jump off the truck and drag the hoses off and start spraying. I don't know if it was a yard fire or a house fire.

 

I live a couple miles away "as the crow flies" and could smell something burning ... don't remember hearing sirens tho. How odd. Hope everyone is ok.

 

Anyone know if 42 is still closed or open at this point?
