Accepting applications for appointment as a Johnston County Commissioner

    PUBLIC NOTICE
    APPOINTMENT OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER
    REPRESENTING COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 6

    Please be advised that the Johnston County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications from interested citizens to be considered for appointment as a Johnston County Commissioner representing County Commissioner District 6 that is being vacated at the end of September. Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-27, to be eligible for appointment to fill a vacancy, a person must be a member of the same political party and be a resident of the same district as the member being replaced; therefore, applicants must be a registered Republican and reside within County Commissioner District 6. A map of the Johnston County Commissioner Districts is located online at www.JohnstonNC.com/commissioners; however, interested citizens are encouraged to contact the Johnston County Board of Elections Office at (919) 989-5095 to verify that they reside within County Commissioner District 6 before applying. Any citizen that wishes to be considered must submit an application with accompanying resume to the following address:

    The deadline to submit applications is Friday, September 29, 2017 by 5:00 PM. Applications will be date/time stamped at the time of receipt. Applications may be mailed via U.S. Mail; however, it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their application is received no later than 5:00 PM on September 29th. Applications received after 5:00 PM on September 29th will not be accepted, regardless of the reason. Application forms are available in the Clerk to the Board’s Office, Johnston County Courthouse, 207 E. Johnston Street, Room B-206, Smithfield, 919-989-5100 or may be downloaded from the County’s website: www.johnstonNC.com/commissioners (See Public Notices).

    Its because its a replacement, not an actual election. Want to make it real fair? have an election.

    District 6 to save everyone a bunch of clicks, is smithfield, west smithfield, wilson mills, and pine level areas.
