Cant remember where I read it, but a while back I read that you should seriously use a sharpie to write on your body before going into surgery what you were there to have done. Like "this kidney to be removed" with an arrow pointing to the correct one. Or maybe on your forehead "leg to be removed, no anus thank you"
When I went in for my carpal tunnel surgery, they gave me one of those temporary tattoos that said, in effect, "THIS HAND". It took almost a week for the tattoo to finally wash off.
