I have a few questions and maybe some of you on here know the answers. I'd like to start watching a child or two afterschool. I've never done this before but have plenty of references and clearance checks galore(from all the adoptions) and stuff like that. Plus, I do have plenty of "kid experience." I used to be CPR certified and do need to renew that. First aid is priority at this house(4 very active tree climbing boys--LOL). Since I'd only be watching one or two, is there anything legally I have to do? I know some places register as a childcare provider but isn't htat after a certain number of chilldren are in the home? Plus, this would only be for afterschool. Kids would play, have a snack and do some homework b/c they'd be elementary aged children. I just want to make sure I know everything before I post an ad. Thanks in advance. Stephanie--mom to 7
If you are keeping a few kids for less than 4 hours a day, you do not have to be licensed (same with after school centers, as long as they don't keep kids for more than 4 hours a day, per component.) Two or more separate components, such as morning care and after school care.
