I just got a call from "The Town of Clayton" alerting me to a scam wherein the scammer calls claiming to represent a utility company. The scammer then claims you are past due and your electricity will be turned off. They ask for a credit/debit card. The alert says DO NOT give these people any personal information. The alert suggests, if you get such a call, to hang up and call 911.
I understand one of the Town of Clayton commissioners received this call today. He told them he was a TOC Commissioner and this was a scam. After his statement they asked him for his credit card information. LOL
If Clif is the only one who gets a call, then statistically it would be zero. Using his logic, it would be like the statistical anomaly that there are no gay people in the NFL.
How nice. I pass on an alert to help my fellow citizens and this is the way I'm treated? Just makes me want to help out even more. BTW: http://www.townofclaytonnc.org/ScamAlert.aspx
