We went yesterday to drop some stuff off but it was way too crowded for me to go in. Looked like they had some nice stuff though.
I've tried twice. Both times couldn't find a place to park. If I'd had more time (only get half hour for lunch) I would have parked at Lowe's and walked. I will wait til they calm down before I try again.
Me too. I do NOT like crowds. I have always wondered why they separate clothes by color. I mean, I may not know what color shirt I want! Just seems crazy to me but maybe I'm missing something.
Didn't dare go the first day....15-20 waiting outside at 9:00 for them to open. Honestly, you would think these folks had never seen a Goodwill!!! Went yesterday about 4 or so, and the lot was full of cars, but the inside really wasn't that crowded. Very neat and clean (as expected for a new store), but did not see anything I couldn't live without. Hell must truly be freezing over. :lol:
If they've just opened are they possibly getting their stuff that's overflowing from other Goodwill's? I remember on the news once that there was a ...well I wouldn't call it a complaint really.. that just said they had too many clothes on hand. I carried a big box of books there once then "heard" that people buy them and sell them again. My next box went to Pizzaz. I know it's for a women's shelter but I'm sure some of them have kids. I'm trying to become more of a "seller". Thinking of people selling what I give them makes it a little easier. ...But I haven't sold anything yet.lol I have a box of books now I'm going to try on CL or ebay...maybe blah blah blah... sorry I'll go back to my laundry now.
That shocked the heck outta me, first time I saw it! While it sure looks nice and colorful, sure makes shopping by size kinda hard!
Yea I ventured in. Had to park over by Lowes. Picked up a couple of cd's a book and a computer game. Lots of stuff in there. I think some nicer stuff than the other goodwill
The only thing I could think of is that it is probably easier for the workers to sort the clothes. Keeping them arranged by size is probably difficult since people try clothes on and don't put them back where they found them.
Out of boredom me and DD went in there today. Nice stuff, but in my opinion it is priced too high. I honestly saw stuff in there that I know came from Dollar Tree and it had 1.99 to 2.99 prices marked on it! Clothes are in no order whatsoever except that some are by color. I ain't willing to go through 20 racks of clothes just to find a shirt. However, I will say that most of the clothes I saw looked brand new as if they had been donated by Target and other department stores. Even some of the shoes looked brand new. Store was nice and clean but I was very disappointed to find out that they do not take debit cards. Cash or check only. :evil:
separate by color Perhaps the organization of the clothing is in part due to the ease of separating for the employees. I believe Goodwill employs individuals who need varying levels of assistance and this may be easier for them?
I thought the store was nice and clean. It was crowded like I expected it to be though. I have never been in a goodwill around here that didn't take anything except cash and check. I always look on the door as I enter a business to see if they take visa/mastercard so I won't be shocked at the check out.
I normally look as I go in too but when we walked it the line to pay was so wrapped around the front of the store that we barely got through. It's no big deal, I'll take cash next time. I thought it was kinda weird that they would take a check but not a debit card . . .I'm sure it has something to do with bank fees or something like that.
