I noticed yesterday that there is a new pottery place in Peddler's Village on 42, on the end closest to Cleveland Road. Has anyone checked it out? What's the deal? Is it a place where you can make or paint pottery, or one that sells finished pieces?
Since the post got so many views, I figured I'd post an update. Checked the place out on Saturday afternoon. It's called Lantern Hill Pottery. All of the pottery is done by the owner/artist Kit Vanderwal. The pieces were cute. They had several collections, so it would be easy to put together a set. All of the pieces, except for some vases made of a different clay, are microwave and oven safe. The prices were reasonable (I picked up an apple/onion baker for $14.68 after tax), althought there weren't a lot of unique display pieces. It seems like their goal was more functionality than exhibition. All and all, if you like pottery you might want to check them out. A lot of the pottery reminded me of the pieces we saw in Tucson, although Kit uses a different clay.
I'll have to check it out too... and let my MIL know. She loves pottery and got me hooked on it. I have quite a few "functional" pottery bowls that I love to use!! Food looks so pretty in them!
I thought I saw that their hours are 10am to 7pm, but I don't remember for certain. The phone number is 625.5343 and it lists their website as lanternhillpottery.net on their business card.
So I went there today and bought several pieces as gifts. Very nice place, great prices from what I have seen elsewhere.
