Did anyone else hear all the sirens coming down 42 a little while ago? It sounded like 3 sets of sirens spaced apart by a couple of minutes, maybe 3 companies called out to a fire? We're just behind the new construction on the Johnston Memorial Medical Center site. It also sounded like 2 or 3 helicopters flew over us?
We seem to hear sirens on such a regular basis at the 42/Cornwallis area that sadly I'm getting immune to them. Didn't hear any this am, but then again, I grew up near train tracks and rarely heard the train. No, I'm not deaf. But it's weird how my brain will start tuning out things like that. Sorry I'm no help.
I was going up to Lowes @ 40/42 a few hours ago from Clayton, and noticed all kinds of Fire trucks and police, at The Bluffs subdivision, not sure what was going on but all the roads into it were closed. I could see people standing all over the road as well, not sure what was going on. Whatever was going on was in the subdivision, not on 42.
http://www.wtsbradio.com/ Suspicious Fire Destroys Vacant Home Law enforcement officers and fire investigators are treating a blaze near Clayton as arson. A fire ripped through a vacant house in The Bluffs of Austin Pond, a subdivision off Highway 42 East Monday morning around 9am. Johnston County sheriff’s deputies and the fire marshals office are jointly investigating the incident. A canoe reportedly stolen from a resident in the area was also found burned in a nearby pond. Detective Lt. Chris Strickland with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said investigators have three possible suspects.
Thanks bandmom! I drove through both of The Bluffs subdiv's yesterday on my way to get gas, and I didn't see or smell anything that looked like it had been a big fire.
Thanks for the info bandmom. We were on our ways to Lowe's too and saw all the chaos and was curious as to what happened.
