Anyone in direct sales?

  1. I was just wondering how many of you are involved with a direct sales company......Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Home Interiors, Partylite, etc.? If so, do you enjoy it, and do you find yourself making enough money from it to compensate for your time?

I use to do Creative Memories I found I spent more than I made so I just went back to being a very good customer... I think its what you make of it and if you really enjoy what you are doing/selling.

I sold Tupperware years ago.. I spent more than I made and then some, and then got wacked with at 1040 at the end of the year from the distributor (not that I had expected not to pay taxes on what I was earning, but it was all to convenient to forget about it with that constant cash on hand... too easy to just spend, spend, spend and not save it)

Quixtar, myself. Some don't think it's a "direct selling" type of business but you can do that if you like. My wife does make-up and jewelry parties with it once in awhile. We mainly focus on building a network instead. We have some customers, but not a whole slew of them. Spend about $250-$600/mth but it's stuff that I would not normally buy anyway (like household cleaners, personal hygeine (sp) items, food, etc, etc). It just depends on what I need/want in a certain month. We make anywhere from $500 to $2000/mth with it. Again...depends on volume of product moved through our business and the type of product as well. Some products you can make better money on than others. Depends on what value the manufacturer puts on a certain item. For example: Our energy drinks have great profit as well as our coffee because they happen to be our most popular products.

I just recently stopped selling Mary Kay, only b/c I didnt have enough time to devote to it. I absolutely LOVED it while I did it and made killer $$ for a while. With anything, if you really put the time and effort into it, the system works.. It is not very expensive to start and you get 50% from the start. PM me if you want more info and I can send you in the right direction! Good luck with whatever you choose to do. :D

Those operations cost me a small fortune! First, my ex tried her hand at selling, which flopped, and I had to pay for all that inventory. Then she became a dedicated patron to whichever one caught her fancy, Princess House, Pampered Chef, Creative Memories. After she left, I found a receipt for $400 in Pampered Chef junk that she bought in one month. If she had only had herself for a customer, we would have made a killing. That's ok, though, I had a very popular yard sale selling Mary Kay products 2 for a dollar. (Don't hate me MomaApe, they were discontinued by then.)

If you really want to do direct sales, just make sure you really love the product you are selling.

No offense taken, it is like Kaci said, You Have to LOVE the stuff your selling. For me it worked out great, I loved makeup, smell good stuff, having girly parties, and doing facials and I made REALLY good money at it when I had time. I still wear all the stuff, heck I have my own makeup counter in my spare room :D
