Yesterday, DH said Embarq called 3 times trying to get up with me. Then they called about 7 pm & stated they appreciated my "loyality" to Embarq. Said they would like to give me a $25 gift card to favorite restaurant and gave me a long code. Is this for real or do they think I fell off the turnip truck. Sometimes I feel like this.
Might be legit, yet it's still worth checking into. We dropped embarq entirely, dropped landline completely as we couldn't see spending that much for the fax lines. Got an online fax capability for a year for just over what we'd spent in a month. Toll free fax line, and we can send, file, or retrieve them anywhere.
I retired from a phone company and we had companies that contracted with us...This may be perfectly legitimate but then again it may have been a "door opener" or something to keep you on the phone and when you get your next bill you may have answered questions in such a way that when taken out of context would indicate that you ordered or upgraded something on your account. I would be really leary and would document the conversation to the best of my recollection to call to have this corrected. Could be that you are just the recipient of a gift card...I did call Embarq and she didn't know anything about it but that isn't unusual either. JUST Scrutinize your next bill very carefully. When Embarq first got dsl, I just questioned the rates, etc. I already had TWC and it was just to get information so I could make a decision on it. The next thing I knew, I was on the phone with a friend and the telephone installer came in on the line to advise he needed access to the line to complete my order. They wrote up an order to remove a 2nd line, to add dsl, and to remove signal ring. I was not a happy lady.
I recently dumped Embarq for Vonage. Only $24.95/ mth Unlimited service, 1st three mths $9.99 . So far so good, the service seems to work well.
same here. the phone went out a couple of times at first w vonage but was easy to fix when needed. fine now
