I have a full boxspring and mattress and a twin boxspring and mattress... I have posted ads with no luck. Now I just want someone to come take them away. Does anyone know whether the Salvation Army will pick up things like that? Is there another option? thanks

I don't think they can, because its a sanitation issue and I don't think they are allowed to resell used mattresses. You might call any of the shelters around and see if they would come get it. I know my neighbor just took 2 sets to the dump, and just before he got them unloaded, a pastor came up to him and said he would take them for a shelter he worked with.

Did ya post them for free? Ya can generally get rid of anything with the word FREE next to it.

if you put the word FREE in front of it, on CraigsList or on 4042 classifieds, I bet someone will come get it.....

Actually the Salvation Army or the Goodwill store will take them. They are required by law to sanitize them before reselling but i have seen them many times in the stores.

How recently have you done this? Just asking because I dropped some stuff off at the Goodwill in Clayton a while back and they had a sign up that said they no longer accepted mattresses. Seems a shame if someone could use them, but you know how sue-happy folks are.

I'm looking for a full size mattress that is in good shape. I don't really need the box spring but I'll take one if necessary. The mattress really needs to be clean - not all stains and stuff.

I have a truck so I can pick it up.

    Thanks!

Well we all know that Clayton is above selling used mattresses:lol::lol::lol: It was actually a month or so ago and it was the store on Tryon in Garner. If it has changed it must be new - i do know they had to charge a high price because of the cleaning and sanitation required so maybe that is why they aren't doing it at certain stores.

I bet some folks on CL could use them. I'm sure some of them have worn out the mattresses they have
