If so, you may want to take a peek at this: http://www.healthinspections.com:80/video.cfm?bWVkaWFJRD0yOA I stopped a long time ago. I'm no germ freak by no means, but I do think all those wedges are put on your glass by hand in most cases. I could be wrong. I worked in the kitchen of a large corporate cafeteria many years ago. Things probably haven't gotten better. We can't live in an antiseptic bubble, but this lemon wedge video does make you think about eliminating at least 1 source.
I ask them NOT to put a lemon on my water.....have for years.... thank goodness now that I see that.... eek
Honestly, if you think about it too much, you'll never eat out! I HAVE to have a straw in my drink, which was unwrapped by ME, not the server. I will not eat a pickle or eat anything one has touched. DH used to run some service calls in fast food restuarants and the pickels are often kept in open buckets with heaven knows what floating in them. I also rarely send anything back to the kitchen and do my best not to tick off my server. I trust NO ONE! :ack:
No doubt....I have worked in restaurants in my earlier days....dont want to tick the guys in the kitchen off....
The page was unavailable but I think I might be glad. Can hardly drink tea or water without lemon in it. I always use straws and never send anything back unless it's absolutely necessary. Not dead yet!
I have worked in Kitchens most of my life. I know what goes on behind the line. And yes I use Lemon in mostly all my drinks Including my Pepsi and Coke. The Lemon takes some of the Nasty after taste of the water that is used away. If we are gonna die from something I would rather go out eating.
LOL! DH cringes everytime I send something back, he say's "you know they are playing hockey with your burger/steak right about now, don't you" I ask for burgers/steaks *cremated* now
If you're worried about germs when you go out..You mine as well stay home and close the shades. There are probably more germs on the door handle when you walk in the restaraunt.
I learned a great deal about people who work for restaurants when I was a cook. Think good thoughts, think good thoughts, think good thoughts
I always ask for everything without lemon and I also require a straw. I won't let my lips touch the glass.
Also ignoring them - Since I am dependant on Restaurants and hotels so much, I agree Ignorance is Bliss!:iagree:
I finally watched th vid. about the lemon wedges. What cracks me up is this is the exact situation people create in their own homes. Granted, it's other peoples fecal matter, butt (haha) what really is the difference.
