Okay, my in-laws are here and they have a flat tire. We went to Lowes and even bought an impact wrench. That tire is NOT coming off to replace. We need someone to come to the house that will help get the tire off. Does anyone know who can come out to the house on a Sunday. We're looking in the phone book now. Thanks in advance. Never dull here, huh?

By chance are either of you members of AAA? They have bailed me out in my travels a couple of times.

    Me, I am mechanically incompetent.

Any luck? Is one of the lug nuts the problem?

No luck! They are not members of AAA. They live in Little Washington. Right now, we have another mechanic working on it and they can't seem to get it off of there either. Seems as though the lug nuts are welded on. We're trying. Feel good about having a mechanic here so hopefully between all of them out there, we'll think of something--LOL. Thanks guys!

My solution has always been a set of vice grips and a pipe and/or hammer.

If you do something as stupid as I would, make sure safety glasses are worn!

Keep us abreast as I am sure someone lives near you that could swing on over.

Sounds like they are cross threaded; can't imagine all of them being that way. Is it original tire/rim or have tires been changed recently? Older Dodges were only ones that were reverse threaded that I remember. Good Luck.

Try to put a 1/2 " Breaker bar with a socket that fits the lug nut (6 point) over the nuts and take a long pipe that fits into the breaker bar and try to bust the lugs free. The pipe on the breaker bar should offer you enough torque to get the lugs loose.Make sure you use a good quality Breaker bar and socket, like a Craftsman or Snap-On. The Sockets that are Chin Shing (Jap) will bust up as soon as you try to apply any torque on the lug nuts.
