I am just wondering if anyone has ever had a bad experience with Cleveland Auto Repair just off 42?? We are new to the area (as many of us are) and we brought our car to Cleveland Auto Repair for a fairly common repair. We were treated so poorly by the staff and are made to feel as though they were doing us a favor. People have been overwhelming hospitable and pleasant to us since our arrival so we have to believe this company is just a bad apple in the bunch??!!??! We are now in need of a pleasant, reliable and timely mechanic. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you
What did you have done there? I have only been there once but I was pleased. I know others on this board have had good things to say about Cleveland Auto.
Welcome to the neighborhood! We have used Quality Auto Service behind the shoping center next to Bojangles at 4042. They are great, they even call us back to make sure we are happy. http://www.qualityautoservice.net/ You can also access them through the front page of 4042.com
I'm surprised, I have had nothing but good experiences there. The owner is usually onsite. He retired from his regualr job a few years ago, and wanted to offer reliable, honest service to the people of this community. Please call him and tell him about your visit.
We never ended up getting the work done because after 3 full days we called once to see what time we could pick up the car because they said it would be ready on that particular day. They said it won't be ready until the next day--no explanation. The next day it was going to be the next day after that and I believe it may have been the owner ? who said to stop calling and asking because we were 'aggravating' him and called my husband ignorant for expecting the work to be done when specified. WOW! We went down there to get the car that evening and brought it to JL Coats on Sanders off of Raleigh Rd. What a difference. The car was ready first thing the next morning and they now have two cars as new customers--one of which is getting older $$ and surely is in need of an auto technician! Of course there are always two sides to a story-I am sharing my experience-- I share the good experiences also!!
Gill's auto repair I know Dunn is a ways away but hey this guy is good and honest. give him a try. 892-1335 tell him Tim sent you
I'm pretty sure they do state inspections. Their number is 934-7568, if you want to call and check. They are located on Hwy 210 just east of the traffic light at Raleigh Rd. If you came off I-40 and turned toward Smithfield, it would be the first traffic light -- less than a mile, I'm sure. Just go straight through that traffic light, and it's right there on your left. If you were coming up Raleigh Rd., you would just turn left on 210, toward Smithfield, and it's right there on your left. Good luck!
I have gone to Cleveland Auto Repair in the past and was fairly pleased, although it did Irk me that everytime I had an oil change, I had to pay an extra $10 for special oil. (for some reason it never occured to me that this was with EVERY vehicle I brought in). I went to Carfix at 4042 this past week b/c of the $39.99 special in the cleveland clipper. It actually ended up being cheaper, and go figure, there was no need for special oil...hmm. There service was great! Very timely and polite! I never had bad customer service at Cleveland Auto, but I guess I kinda feel like an idiot now!
It's things like this that make me happy I can usually fix my own cars. I'm doing a tune up on the truck tomorrow, new plugs and wires. When it's something that I can't handle, I either take it to Clayton Tire on 70 or Fast Lane on Pawhatan Road near Wilson's Mill. And by the way MamaApe, unless you're using synthetic oil, conventional oil is all you need for almost every vehicle on the road. Mike
Mamaape--if you were told you needed something you didn't, that does not make you an 'idiot' but it is also not good honest customer service. AGlassNut--We used to be able to do quite a bit of our own work also--the basics mostly, but the newer cars are started to become complex to the point that getting to the oil filter and the spark plug wires requires a diagram so it is often easier to have it done by someone who has the right tools.
I just did the tune up and just like my last truck, I found some of the original spark plugs and my truck has 117,000 miles on it. I just got it a few months ago so it was done prior to me taking ownership. Just like in my field, automotive glass, you really don't know what's being done. There are too many people taking too many short cuts out there. Mike
Yes, PJ's does state inspections, and I can't say enough good things about them. I am admittedly a fuss-budget when it comes to car repairs, and they've done right by me. My wife and I have four vehicles: Two daily drivers, and two antiques. I do much of my own work and maintenance, but take things to PJ's if it's over my head or don't have time to do it. If you need an alignment, Massey's in Selma is the place to go.
