Just gotta post a big kudos to the new AutoZone at McGees. My engine light came on in my car and of course i started freaking (can't really afford any unexpected repairs right now). i ran down to the Autozone at lunch and the very nice and knowledgeable gentleman came out, tested it with his little hand held thingy and it was totally free. Found out it just needed a new air filter (thank goodness), he took it out, installed it for me and reran the test to make sure the engine light cleared. Could not have asked for better customer service, trust me, changing the air filter on a little VW Cabrio is not very simple and he never once complained or changed his helpful nature.
Wow, now that's what I call service! And, it's so nice to see that service is indeed alive and well with some people. I'll remember your experience and will tell others, too, if and when the need for car parts arises (as I'm sure it will sooner or later!)
Army.. I have interpreted the tone of the bulk of your posts to suggest that you are no older than your mid 20s. Nothing wrong with that. I would offer some unsolicited advice that when dealing with others, of whom you know little or nothing about, that your tone, if diplomatic and respectful, would engender a similar response. Many of us on this board either know, or know of, each other. We have an interest in protecting our community, sharing its successes and opportunities. Those of us who know the value of word of mouth advertising appreciate it when a member whom we've come to trust, let's the rest of us know that business X performed well, or not so well. The tone of your post here suggests that your experience with older persons who are in business are looking only at the sale in front of them. To the contrary, most succesful sales and service persons I know look to build a long term relationship. If they do, then the customers they have developed are never targeted for advertising, nor should they be. Advertising is designed to get new customers. Top notch servce will keep them coming back. Regardless, I welcome your interest in the board, as do most. Consider this as some mentoring from an elder flatulent from the Oooold Army. H6.out
Oh my Calm Down Its just an autozone just an autozone.. no need for all the big words. I dont need to agree with all the senior people or with people that have 3000 plus posts to fit in.. thats just not me..
Most companies large or small are out for the quick buck nowadays, customer service stinks in many areas, and top notch service is almost non-existent. Besides, we're talking about a national chain here... show me a single national chain who's employees gave a flip about any of the things you mentioned.
Well, I kinda had a bad experience on Saturday. My friends power steering pump went out. We called auto zone at 5:50 to be exact and the man who answered was very rude to my hubby. He said "I dont have that part and I am already closed" in a firm tone that didnt have to be used, then he just hung up on my hubby. So we called the one in Clayton and they were open til 7. we got there at 6 50 and the man there said that he would have stayed 30 min over if that is what it took. We were in a bind. I hope his attitude changes at McGees. Dont all auto zones close at the same time. I just wondered that. Outcome, my friend is single with 2 kids, child support isnt going through for her yet. (the system) she is using my car because she has nothing to drive because her car is at my house and we are footing the bill for her. Anyone have any suggestions about how else I can help her. It wasnt the pump but another part that will cost more than the car is worth. I am just worried about her. Sorry to type so much......
Well for you negative folks that choose to comment - i actually asked the gentleman who helped me how long he had been with the company and it has been a couple years. i feel sorry for folks that only look for the negative, you know they do say that negativity attracts negativity, maybe that is why your experiences are so bad. The company treated me very well and i will return - that is what customer service does for a company and maybe a company that has been in business so long has learned that.
Kaci, Thats exactly what they are counting on, you getting good service and coming back.....What a concept right? I have had nothing but good experiences in there too....I mean its an AutoZone, what's not to love???? (and I think we brushed on this negativity thing the other day.....could'nt have said it better myself...."i feel sorry for folks that only look for the negative, you know they do say that negativity attracts negativity, maybe that is why your experiences are so bad.")
I also had to go there last week and they were so nice and helpful I was looking for locking gas cap ( I know strange lol) But they were so polite especially considering it was busy in there.I will recomend them to anyone and go back myself.
That's a really good piece of information to know. You just never know when you might need them and it's great to know that they're open 24 hrs. Does that include weekends, too?
i know i was just getting an air filter, but the guy offered me both the Napa and another brand - the difference was only .20 so i went with the Napa cause i recognized the brand.
My pet peeve with any auto part store is the same: why do they help someone on the phone who is obviously price shopping instead of me, when I'm there in front of them? I have walked out for that very reason before.
Ok, Ken or anyone else who knows - i have a VW and it needs an oil change bad - i always took it to Maria at Carolina cause i trusted her and have heard way too many horror stories about the VW oil filter being used over and over at other places cause they don't carry them in stock. Now that they have been bought out and Framemama isn't in business up on 42 anymore, anyone have any suggestions on where to get the most trustworthy oil change. BTW, DH could do it but if you knew the hours he has been working you would understand why i am trying to find somewhere else. TIA
