We drove past what appeared to be a serious wreck on Polenta Road last night. Serious prayers go out to whoever was in the car last night! This makes me cringe to think of Cleveland High School within walking distance to this accident and Johnston County's history of teen driving deaths. Slow down everyone!
I got there just as the fire trucks and ambulance showed up. From what I had heard the man driving the van was about 45 and was thrown from the vehicle. They had to use an ambu bag on him. The van was flipped and broke one of the trees in the persons yard. I can only imagine how much worse its going to get once the high school opens.
I have a feeling the Speed limit will get cut to 35 or lower by the school, I don't particularly see why the overall speed is 55 MPH, it's only a 2 lane highway and has too many curves on it for those speeds to begin with. At most, 45 is what it should be, even then people would go 55, but at least they won't be going 65 on a regular basis! I agree, speed is too high! And once they pave Monroe Rd, we'll have even more traffic speeding down that road.
