Well they come in threes......... I love Smokey and the Bandit. I think the last thing I remember him being in was "The Waterboy". He seemed to be a good guy. NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Jerry Reed, a singer who appeared in the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies, has died of complications from emphysema at age 71, his longtime booking agent said Tuesday. Carrie Moore-Reed, who is no relation to the star, said Reed died early Monday morning. Reed was a gifted guitarist who later became a songwriter, singer and actor. As a singer in the 1970s and early 1980s, he had a string of hits that included "Amos Moses," "When You're Hot, You're Hot," "East Bound and Down," and "The Bird." In the mid-1970s, he began acting in movies such as "Smokey and the Bandit" with Burt Reynolds, "Gator" "Hot Stuff" and "High-Ballin'."
This is horrible. Hubby and I are HUGE Jerry Reed fans. First Bernie Mac, then Isaac Hayes, now Jerry Reed. It's been a sad year for the entertainment biz.
Keep on truckin', Snowman. Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Jackie Gleason were the big stars of the movie, but if it wasn't for Jerry Reed, it wouldn't have been worth watching. As Reynolds once stated, he was a natural born actor.
Jester, On this we agree. Mr. Reed was an influential artist, singer, songwriter. I recall hearing him lieon Johhny Carson singing, "I fell out of love with love!"..and I always thought that would be a big hit, if he'd only have recorded it. I gnenerally avoid country western music. Reed was one of the few exceptions. RIP, Jerry. H6
