We are having a surprise party for my FIL in mid October. My MIL has a budget of $500 (that I told her this morning was going to need to be bigger to accomodate everything: food, wine, beer, decorations, etc.). She was wanting BBQ. Anyone know who might would consider traveling to Rougemont to cook it on 10/17? Thanks! Janelle janelleuop@yahoo.com 919-524-2004
you can do it for $500. easily if you do it yourself, I don't know anyone that will come do it cheap tho.* You can get about 100lb pig for a little over 100.00 get a keg for about 70.00, decorations depending on the theme you might can order from oriental and get fairly cheap, if you have a Sam's or BJ's card go buy some big cans of potatos and string beans to boil, I would get my slaw and potato salad from Smithfield bar-b-que they also sell the bar-b-que sauce pretty cheap too.* The wine seriously at a pig pickin, I would just skip :jester:, a few deserts and bang all done! Good Luck
Janelle, given your proximity to Durham, I highly recommend Hog Heaven BBQ if your MIL can bump the budget up some. I planned my brother's rehearsal dinner in Durham last year and they were great to work with, but for 50-75 ppl it would take your whole budget. But we had BBQ, fried chicken, boiled potatoes, hushpuppies, fried okra, banana pudding and peach cobbler, sweet tea, lemonade for 75 for $9.50/person. You might be able to work with the owner and get less options for less $$. It was a LOAD of food. Check out their website http://www.hogheavenbarbecue.com/ The catering menus are listed and they show up with absolutely everything you need down to plates, forks w/napkins in a wrapper, cups, sweet tea, etc. And people from both sides of the wedding party RAVED about it saying it was better than the wedding reception itself. THe food is delish, they know what they are doing when it comes to catering events and no one has to worry about cooking or lifting a finger. Everything comes in those heavy duty tin containers and the leftovers(if there are any) just pop right in the fridge.
If you can find Jasper Russell, he lives in Angier. He does a fantastic job, the best BBQ I ever tasted and he is a great person... He's retired and does parties..:cheers:
