I received this message from a friend who lives in Angier. Don't know if it's true or not because it was forwarded to her. But I say, better safe than sorry! I hope they catch this man if it is true before he lures some innocent child into his truck!

Not that I'd let my kid around him, but what was his crime?

No crime was committed thank goodness....but my question is what was his intentions? Why was he trying to get the child to come to his truck???? I seriously doubt it was for conversation or directions. There are plenty of grown people who can converse or give directions much better than a child!

Look, I wouldn't let my kid go up to a stranger's vehicle either... but my problem was when you said "I hope they catch him" implying that some crime was committed. For all we know the guy was tired of the kid throwing rocks at his truck as he went by. I'm not saying don't be on guard, I'm just saying don't convict him either.

Perhaps my wording was wrong, but I do hope they can find him to determine what his intent was. You may be right about the reason he was trying to get the kid's attention. But if that's the case, then why not approach the parents of said kid and let them know what he'd been doing. I guess I'm just leary of any adult who would want to talk to a child without another adult present. But you are correct...he did not commit a crime and should not be judged as a criminal. I was wrong to imply that assumption.

I would certainly agree with you there.....

You may be right, he may be up to no good... I hope not but you're right you never know...

What happened to the days where kids could be kids and ride their bikes on a residential street and not have to worry about this sort of thing?

On the flip side, there are some dangerous kids out there too... maybe not elementary age but... times they are a changin...
