Does anybody know what the deal is with becky's country corner on the corner of 42 and Cornwallis? I know it's closed but the outside is all overgrown and it's really looking dumpy. Did the owners of the business die or get sick? Does anybody know?:?
We've been trying to answer that question for over a year. Seems like they would rather sell the stuff at a great discount than let it sit there and rot and fade.
The owner also owns a car lot over on 70, I talked to him a LONG time ago when he opened up that shop. They should cut the grass and have a big sale! I'd buy from them. I got a gift for my mom there one time (when they were open for business).
Big Sale would be nice I spoke to him last spring. I was able to meet him there and buy two stone pagoda's from him for our anniversary. He had mentioned he was going to rent the property to someone else and needed to clear his stock. I have not seen it open since though. If anyone gets in touch with him again, I would be interested in buying some things and I know a bunch who have asked me about it!! (Thanks Harlyegirl!)
The owner of that car lot has sadly passed away. His name was Warren Buchler. He was a very sweet old man that would bend over backward for anyone. He died of Pancreatic Cancer. Since then the car lot has gone to crap. From what I can tell.
Aw, how sad. :-( Pancreatic cancer doesn't give a person much time. From what I understand about it 6 months after diagnosis is about the norm. My uncle got about 4 months. Anyway, was Warren Buchler the same person who owned Becky's? If so, I'm assuming Becky is his wife? And if so, is she still around? If yes, yes and no, then I wonder if the property is caught up in the judicial system now (estate stuff.)
Dont know if Warren owned Becky's or not. His wife is Gail. She is still alive but she is a real beach. Driving his business into the ground. It may be worth asking someone at the car lot if they know about it. I love some of the statues they have there. Hate to see them rotting away. He died about 5 or 6 months after he was diagnosed. It was really fast.
Not sure I do not think his name was Warren, but I am be wrong. ARe you talking about the car lot right beside Beckys? That is not where I went to find the man that owned Becky's. He was on a lot on 70 highway in Garner/Clayton area. Harley -- Is this the same man you know?
The one I sent you to on 70 is the one that owned Becky's. Not sure if we are all talking about the same person or not. It's been a long time ago.
oops sorry I thought you were talking about the lot right next to Becky's. my bad. I assumed being as they were so close. I was speaking of the one right next to becky's
