Benefit

I have seen a couple of signs that say something about a fireman's benefit. Does anyone know exactly what it's for? Thanks!

 

The Chief (I think FD, not sure; FD & EMS each have their own chief) is battling a brain tumor. They're having a chicken barbecue on Sat., 11/3, at the 50/210 FD. $6.00 a plate.

All proceeds from the day will be donated to 50-210 Fire Department Chief Jim Parrish and his wife, Brenda. The chief has been battling a brain tumor for several months now.
