Blind man navigates an obstacle course he has never been through before. I heard about this on the radio this morning and had to see it before I would believe it.

Make sure you watch the video, the course seems almost cruel, at the end the gentleman was asked how come he did not walk a straight line, he responded that he did.

Having taught blind and visually impaired children in the classroom and in the community as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (and traveled totally blind myself in various environments as part of my training) ... I am guessing this man has some vision where he at least see's shadows or lights. I notice they did not show his upper body much in the video but it looks like he was bending to get a better look. Being able to see shadows or light can make a huge difference in travel (vs. total darkness). Two people who are identified legally blind/blind can have vastly varying degrees of useful vision. It is also very hard to determine what a person who as cortical visual impairment is actually seeing. Also, it is amazing how you can hear and 'sense' objects when your vision is obstructed.
