Any birders on here? Why are the bluebirds and house sparrows checking out my nesting box now? The bluebirds have raised 2 clutches of babies this year, but isn't it too late in the year for them to start a third one? I kept chasing off the house sparrows earlier in the year, but I think I will not interfere this time.

We love bluebirds. However the sparrows have taken over our bluebird boxes. We have tried everything from blocking them off to continually cleaning out the sparrow nests until it is bluebird season. Nothing worked the past 2 years. We have about given up. The sparrows are so agressive the bluebirds have moved on. We miss the bluebirds. They are beautiful birds.

I finally took my bluebird house down this spring, after the darn sparrows murdered all of the baby bluebirds before tossing them on the ground!

In addition to the sparrows our bluebirds have been run off by neighbors cats. I hate neighbors that let their cats have the run of the neighboorhood.
